Post-Empire

Charlie Sheen is a modern day Bukowski. The vulgarity, sincerity and mania with which he can tell anybody to go fuck themselves calls to mind any Bukowski short story in which he describes the miseries of old age and hollywood. Charlie isn’t quite as romantic as ol’ Henry Chinaski though. He’s a real truther. I like that. Charlie turned the media on its head to make a point about the falsity of empire life. Its Bukowski’s dream world.
Cardi B did the same thing. Her swagger helped out a lot though. She’s more popular with young people. But shes not so afraid. She’s not so afraid to tell people she fixed her teeth and bought a nice car with the money she earned from a song telling everyone in her life to fuck off. People need to hear it. The media needed to hear it. Cardi B knows what she’s doing, or maybe she doesn’t but we pretty much know along with her what the deal is gonna be. It’s interesting.
Social media has turned us little people into 2D freaks who think that their likes and dislikes can define and encompass all of our wills and woes, but it has turned celebrities 3D. We really see them now. And there’s barely a pedestal. Everything is a moment and we can look at everyones shame and agree that being a human is shameful in an empire world, but why should it be? We don’t know anything.

light

Light at the end of the tunnel. Enlightenment. The sun will come out. Isn't it interesting how many cliché's have come out of the concept of light? I usually think it is a kind of tired metaphor, but when it is done right it can be so beautiful. I think that we talk about light so much because that's kind of how it feels when you're happy. Like there is a shining sun just beneath the exterior of your glowing skin, and then somehow that light is able to radiate outwards.

The only metaphor used more than light is darkness. Is darkness a stronger feeling than light? Does is consume us more than light does? I think it certainly bothers us more in our day to day lives. Light can feel like everything, though a subtle everything. I think that there is an important distinction between the two happy's. Happy, like "I can't sleep, euphoria, head in the clouds, heart in the driver's seat, I love you" happy. And then happy, like " I am perfectly content, not much more to say" happy. I think that when people feel the latter, just content, they don't really notice it. It is kind of dormant, quiet beneath your skin, and we often don't recognize that this is also a manifestation of happiness.

Darkness is much more stark, though. When you feel that darkness it can be overwhelming. Interrupt you in the middle of your day darkness. I don't want to think that darkness is stronger than light, but I really don't know.

There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny. - Franklin D. Roosevelt

WHAT AN INSIGHTFUL AND ABSTRACT WAY OF PUTTING IT,FDR: WE ARE MEANT TO MEET OUR DESTINY....

WHEN? WHO KNOW! WHERE! WHO CARES?

OUR LIVES ARE FOREMOST INDICATIVE OF OUR CURRENT PERSPECTIVE; THEREFORE ‘LATER’ AWAITS US AS SALIENT AS WE ANTICIPATE IT. WE’D RATHER JOIN OUR PRESENT LIVES RATHER THAN EXCITE OURSELVES FOR WHAT’S TO COME AND I DON’T BLAME A SOUL FOR IT! MY HOPE FOR THE NON-EXPECTANT GENERATION I BELONG TO IS THAT WE ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER IN THE PRESENT TIME. WE LOOK TO UPLIFT, EXCITE AND ENLIGHTEN OUR COHORTS AND ADMIRE THE ATTITUDES OF THE PAST AS A REVERT STAGNANT PORTRAIT OF HUMANITY. “THE FORMER CYCLE OF HUMAN EVENTS” DOES NOT ACQUAINT ITSELF WITH OUR OWN LIKE VENN DIAGRAMS.

IN PART, WE SEE THE GENERATIONS PRIOR AS THE ONES WHO HAVE MUCH TAKEN FROM THEM – THEY FOUND HOPE IN EXPECTING WHAT IS TO COME. WHILE WE STAY EVER-FIXATED IN THE CURRENT MODE OF HUMANITY, WE CAN AT LEAST HOPE FOR THE NEXT GENERATIONS TO BE IN SYNC WITH OUR EFFORTS TO ENSURE A BETTER TOMORROW BY HAVE AN AWESOME TODAY!

A Rendezvous With Destiny, Karishma Mohan

This quote by Franklin D Roosevelt is very consistent with the idea that each generation becomes more aware and involved in their communities as time progresses. More expectations are always put on newer generations as they attempt to solve problems left from past generations. Each generation can be looked at as either over-privileged and therefore not expected to produce feats, or as the generation that will create waves and change the world. However, it is all about perspective; some believe that the generation I am a part of has been given endless privileges and advancements such as new technologies and creative ways of thinking and solving problems. Yet, with the growing tensions around the world, one could easily argue that if we are not the generation to solve the overflow of problems, our world will be at jeopardy. The newest generation is the fresh face the world is in a dire need of. That being said, the purpose of a generation only becomes clear after their time in the limelight has come to an end. Meaning, currently, we do not know if this generation will create change or will be labeled as the generation who had too many resources and not enough creativity and organization to plan long-term goals. Only time will tell, as she always does. However, our generation has a rendezvous with destiny and world can only hope we don’t show up late.
